What is tantric massage?

Tantra accepts people in their entirety. It weaves together the seeming contradictions of good and evil, of supposedly "holy" and "sinful," of spirituality and sexuality, of body and mind. While spirituality and eros seem to be strictly separate in other religions, tantra refers us to our original connectedness.

Tantric Massage Ritual

Many religions see humans as imperfect, sinful, or at least as a being that must struggle to find enlightenment. Tantra, on the other hand, says that human beings are already free and perfect. Tantra is not about struggling to achieve enlightenment, but about recognizing perfection.

Central to this is the moment when something happens: where a moment is experienced very consciously, awake, clear and with all the senses, without evaluating it from the past or the future. The moment when something rises to something greater because all tension, all judgment and "opinion" is gone. The origin of Tantra is undoubtedly in the prehistoric matriarchal cultures.

All the world's matriarchal cultures were steeped in a spirituality that celebrated sexuality as the power of life and creation and celebrated it in countless festivals, rituals and in daily life. Death was also part of a worldview whose connection to nature and the cosmos was natural and pervasive. This is also true of the early cultures of the Indus Valley, which are ultimately the sources of all tantric traditions.

The violent imposition of foreign cultures (invasion of the Aryans) gave rise to the Bramahnentum and from it Hinduism. The tantric rituals and teachings were appropriated, ideologically reformed or despised and banned. Over the centuries to the present day, numerous forms and sects have emerged, some of which contradict or even fight each other.

Later parts of Buddhism were also combined with tantric traditions. With the already Hindu, and Buddhist changed teachings, Tantra came to Tibet. In the 19th century, trade travelers, colonialists, ethnologists and missionaries brought fragments of Tantra to the West, but mostly they were thoroughly misunderstood through a Christian lens. Only the Indian mystic Osho made tantra understandable to Western people in the 1980s and achieved a wide impact of tantra.

All serious - even contradictory - tantra schools in the West hark back to his influence. Tantra is neither a love technique nor a ritual sequence. And there is neither a universally valid doctrine nor a spiritual leader who would have the power to define.

When all religious and historical overlapping ideologies are removed, tantra is about the realization and experience that creation and destruction, male and female, good and bad, sexuality and prayer, eros and religion are ultimately one and the same. At this core, the connection and origin of tantra from its matriarchal origins is captured.

What Is Tantric Sex?

Tantra is an ancient Indian practice that dates back more than 5,000 years. In Sanskrit, the word tantra means woven together. People who practice Buddhist and Hindu meditation may also practice tantric sex as a way to “weave” the physical with the spiritual.

This practice brings together spirituality and sexuality and emphasizes the importance of intimacy during a sexual experience.

Myths About Tantric Sex

Tantra isn’t just a sexual practice. It’s an Eastern philosophy that includes several spiritual concepts.

Tantric techniques include breathing, yoga, and meditation that can then increase sexual energy. A common misconception about tantric sex is that it involves wild, uninhibited sexual experiences. While tantric techniques can open you up to new sensations, it’s as much a mental practice as a spiritual one.

Another misconception around tantra is that it’s always necessary to have a partner. While many couples practice tantric sex together, it can also be an individual practice.

In reality, genital contact or intercourse doesn’t even have to happen to have a tantric experience. Sexual intercourse can enhance your experience, but you can also practice tantra to feel more connected to your own mind and body and give yourself pleasure.

In fact, those who practice tantric techniques, or follow the tantric path, have the overall goal of freeing the soul and expanding consciousness. This can be done in a number of ways, tantric sex being just one of them.

Tantric sex also isn’t about bending into strenuous poses or positions. It’s about being close to your partner in a way that’s comfortable for you. You have the freedom to move and touch however you and your partner decide is best.

Benefits of massage going to a Tantra specialist to indulge in a beneficial massage:

Just about everyone wants to do that. Yet we often postpone a massage for various reasons: we don't have time, or we are a bit too tight with money to spend it. But receiving a beneficial massage regularly can ensure that your body remains healthy or becomes healthier. Getting a good massage once in a while has health benefits, both physically and mentally.

Muscle recovery

By massaging the muscles, the masseur or masseuse ensures good blood circulation. This causes waste products to be removed faster and the body can recover more quickly. After a physical effort you will develop lactic acid in your muscles which will make you feel very tired. A massage will speed up the recovery process and you will quickly feel fit again. It is no coincidence that top athletes are massaged relatively soon after their exertion to speed up the recovery of tired muscles. As a result, they are ready to make new efforts faster.

Immune system

Because waste products leave your body faster, the body can also absorb nutrients faster. As a result, no time is lost in processing those waste products, but your body can quickly reabsorb new energy. Thanks to this process, your immune system will also become stronger and increase your resistance to diseases. This effect should mainly be seen in the long term: a good resistance is built up by bringing regularity into your lifestyle. And just like a healthy diet, massage can be part of this.

Blood pressure

Massaging the body will induce a state of calm and tranquility, which can also calm your heart. In general, both body and mind become more relaxed after barely a few minutes of massage. You are not making any effort, so your heart will also have to pump less blood around. Blood pressure is thus lowered, and this in itself is an advantage for people with high blood pressure or "nervous people" who suffer from too much nervousness.

Relaxation

Massaging the back, neck, face, and legs causes all parts of the body to relax. This causes your body to enter a state of total relaxation, which can culminate in a wonderful moment of relaxation. Some people find themselves at the end of their massage in a peaceful, relaxed state that almost comes close to sleep. It is therefore no coincidence that some people have very small eyes after an extensive massage because the body is so relaxed.

Skin

In addition, a good facial massage can eliminate headaches and have positive effects on the skin. For example, the likelihood of wrinkles is greatly reduced if you have your face massaged regularly and have a scrub or facial performed. Dead skin cells are removed so that space can be made free for new skin cells. Because the skin can "rejuvenate" more easily in this way, you will also look better.

Stress and mood

The mental and the physical are very often connected. If you have pain or are tired, your mood will suffer. If you feel good about yourself, then your mood improves. For this reason the positive properties of a tantric massage, the relaxation and the physical recuperation, can ensure a better mood. Stress and nervousness decrease and a regular massage can even reduce the risk of dejection and depression.
